BISMARCK, ND – The North Dakota Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold four public hearings regarding a proposal to construct a carbon dioxide pipeline in North Dakota.

SCS Carbon Transport LLC (Summit Carbon Solutions) is requesting a siting permit for the Midwest Carbon Express CO2 Pipeline Project. The project would consist of approximately 320 miles of carbon dioxide pipeline ranging from 4.5 to 24-inches in diameter and associated facilities. In addition to the pipelines, the project will include the construction of aboveground facilities that will include pump stations, pig/inspection tool launcher and receiver sites, mainline valves, and permanent and temporary access roads. The estimated cost of the project is $898 million.

The proposed pipeline would be built in parts of Burleigh, Cass, Dickey, Emmons, Logan, McIntosh, Morton, Oliver, Richland and Sargent Counties. (Note to the media: A map showing the proposed location of the project has been provided to you for use with any announcements/stories you print.)

The hearings provide an opportunity for members of the public to contribute to the PSC’s official record. Any comments from members of the public must be received at a hearing to be part of the record. People with concerns, questions or support/opposition for the project are encouraged to attend a hearing and present their information. Information received after the hearings will not be part of the official record and cannot be used as a basis for the Commission’s decision unless certain additional procedures are followed.
