Incident Reported in Williams County

 

BISMARCK, ND – Chord Energy notified the North Dakota Oil and Gas Division of a produced water and crude oil spill at the Thomas 4I central tank battery site. The incident occurred on August 6, 2026, approximately 15.5 miles southeast of Epping, North Dakota in Williams County.

Chord Energy reported that 325 barrels of produced water and 75 gallons of crude oil were released onto location. As of August 7, 2026, 325 barrels of produced water and 75 gallons of crude oil have been recovered.

A North Dakota Oil and Gas inspector has been to the location and will monitor any additional cleanup required.
