Mesozoic Masquerade

Friday October 25th, 2019

Join us at the State Museum and Heritage Center Friday, October 25th, 2019 for our first Mesozoic Masquerade! This fundraising event is to help support the North Dakota Geological Survey Public fossil digs – your financial support helps keep our costs low for diggers and makes sure to keep those digs as enjoyable as possible.

What does your money go towards?

All donations go towards our Paleontological Restoration Fund, which is used for fossil excavation, restoration, and exhibits within North Dakota. What does this include? Shade-tent repairs, chairs, ice, road repairs, field supplies (plaster, awls, picks, shovels, brushes, kneeling pads, etc.). New exhibits and supplies, cases, fabrication, molding, casting, etc.

What does the Masquerade entail?

An evening of fun! Come dressed in business casual to as fancy as you like (just no jeans or t-shirts please) – and as it’s a masquerade, you can bring a paleo-themed mask as well. No full costumes please.

The night starts at 5:30 pm, with a social hour where you can chat with our paleontologists and see some of the more fantastic summer finds. A fajita bar will be on site, as will beer, and hopefully other liquids to quench your thirst. We host many kid-friendly events, so this will be our first adults-only event. This will be our first opportunity for new 2020 Paleo Pal registrations, which is the friends group for NDGS Paleo. If you wish to support the digs, AND get a first-chance at registering for those digs, then this program is for you. There will also be a silent auction with artwork, jewelry, and other paleo-inspired items. The funds raised from this will be split between NDGS Paleo and the ND State Historical Society.

At the close of the evening, paleontologists Clint Boyd, Jeff Person, and Becky Barnes will give a short presentation on the summer digs, where we’ve come from, and where we’re headed.

Tickets are available through Eventbrite until Thursday October 17th, 2019.
